THE WEATHER LOOKS GOOD......................THE HUNT IS ON! 

The Longmont Amateur Radio Club is hosting another Fox Hunt on Oct. 17, 2009.   All amateur radios operators are welcome to attend.  In fact, since we are only receiving, anyone can hunt for the fox.  This is a great family thing to do and kids usually enjoy it.  There is no sign up necessary, just show up and have some fun.

At this months meeting there will be a presentation about the history of telephone and telegraph.  Bob Dornan, WA2EKU, will be giving this presentation about the telephone and telegraph and how it evolved to the present day.  Many thanks to Bob for volunteering his time for the club.

The LARC will have a VE test session from 1000 to about 1200.  The exams will be held at the clubs meeting place, which is in the Clover Building at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.  

The test fee is $15.00.  You will need two forms of picture ID.  If you are upgrading, please bring a copy of your current license or a current CSCE.  For directions to the fairgrounds, refer to "license/testing" on the left side of this page.

Solder Sniffers will be resuming this Saturday from 1300 till about 1600 hours.  They meet at the LARC regular meeting place, the Clover building at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. 

 Solder Sniffers is hosted by two well qualified Hams, Lenoard Leeper and John West.  This is an activity where you can build electronic kits and learn how to solder if you do not know how.  Leonard and John can help you with just about anything that you want to build or test.  All people interested in this sort of activity are welcome, hams or not.

There will be a fox hunt on Saturday Nov. 7, 2009.  This will be another 2 meter hunt and everyone wishing to attend should meet at the South side of Roosevelt Park at 1445 hrs, in the parking lot.  Sebastian, NS0W, will be hiding the fox.  Frequency used will be announced at the start.  The fox will be hidden in Longmont.

The Longmont Amateur Radio Club will be handling communications for the Turkey Trot this year, 2009.  The race begins at 9:00am and lasts about 2 hours.  We will need a base station at the school and 8 stations located through out the 10k ( 6 mile ) course to watch for traffic, accidents, injuries and to provide directions.  Our primary frequency will be the club 2 meter repeater, 147.270.

There will be one more fox hunt this year before Winter sets in.  Again, anyone wishing to attend this hunt should meet in the parking lot on the south side of Roosevelt Park in Longmont.

This hunt will be another 2 meter hunt and should not last longer than 2 hours.  Sebastian, NS0W, is hosting this for everyone.  

Fox hunting is fun for everyone as you do not need a ham license to participate.
