Dr. Tingye Li worked in communications research at Bell Labs for several decades. His early work was in microwave communications. He progressed into optical communications at it's inception, and participated in the development of WDM, a multiplexing of up to 160 optical channels on a single fiber. Well into his retirement, he currently travels the world giving seminars on optical technology. Bob Dornan, WA2EKU, will be giving this presentation about the telephone and telegraph and how it evolved to the present day. Many thanks to Bob for volunteering his time for the club. He will be telling everyone about the Emergency Communicaitons Response Vehicle, ECRV, that is in operation for the Red Cross. I understand that there are only 11 of these vehicles in operation in the country. This should be an interesting presentation. I hope everyone can make it. |
