The Zoom meeting will start at 6:30 pm with socializing, ask an Elmer, meet a Board member, general questions, and/or show-n-tell.  The actual meeting begins at 7:00 pm, with introductions and club business, and then the presentation will begin at 7:15 pm.

Comm Academy 2021 is a free, virtual training conference for anyone interested in learning more about emergency communications technologies and practices. Taking place April 10th and 11th, 2021, Comm Academy will be organized around the theme “Disasters Here, There and Everywhere – Are We Ready?”

As it has in all of its 22+ previous iterations, the conference will feature expert speakers on a wide variety of topics, from radio and messaging technologies to communications techniques to tales from the “trenches.”

More than just a collection of online presentations, Comm Academy 2021 will be an interactive event, with participants able to converse with presenters and other attendees.

The Nashua Amateur Radio Society is putting on a free Ham Bootcamp via Zoom on Saturday, April 24th.  Sessions include such topics as "How to pick a radio and antenna for repeater contacts," "Getting started with Amateur radio satellites," "Picking and putting up an HF antenna, feedline, and ground," and "Setting up WS-JTX and FT8 Digital."

They will also run an online ham radio shopping trip featuring a guided tour of gear and Q&A opportunities for those looking to buy new gear.

Longmont Amateur Radio Club (LARC) Presents a Free and Fun FOX Hunt!  JOIN US!

This little guy has been sending out signals that sound like SSTV! Check out Google for information on SSTV and HAM Radio fox hunting. There are also ideas for antennas (make your own) and apps for SSTV decoding.

How this works:

• As always be safe…..  

• The boundary for this event is from 287(Main Street, Longmont) to the west, I25 to the east,CO 66 to the north and Rt 52 to the south.  

• Turn your radio on to 145.600MHZ to start hearing the signal at 10AM.

• Signal will run for approx. 74 seconds and end with a cw call sign. Then start again 5 minutes later. Until 2 PM. 

• For questions you can use our repeaters: They will be monitored.

Next track the signal down using the SSTV pictures and Fox Hunting Techniques to find him. 

• For every picture received and decoded 1 point will be issued (does not need to be perfect). You still get points even after you find the fox by decoding pictures. Estimated total pictures should be around 32. Plus, a selfie with the fox when found.  

• If you collect all the photos you get a bonus 10 points. 

• For homebrew antennas used you get additional 2 points. 

• First person to find it gets 5 points and everyone else 1 point. 

• Email all pictures and experiences to Foxhunt@w0eno.org.

• Points will be added up, sent to all participants and certificates will be handed out for the event. 

Our March 27th SSTV FoxHunt has been postponed, because Chuck (K0ITP), the organizer, has been called out of town for a family emergency.  If you have registered for this event, you will receive an email when we have a new date.  Otherwise, keep an eye on this web page for updates.

Stay tuned, as it’s coming soon this spring! This will give you more time to get your radios programmed and your antennas built and/or working!

For our January General Meeting we had Ed Fong speak to us about how he builds antennas. During his presentation he mentioned that the club could place a discounted order for any of the items that they make. Quite a number of people stated they would like to order...Here is your chance!
