Announcing the 2017 Fall TechFest
2017 Fall TechFest
2017 Fall TechFest
In October we will have a workshop to test the performance of our HT antennas using an antenna analyzer and forward/reverse watt meter.
So, please bring your HT and get tested!
This month Ron Schwartz (K2RAS) will provide the group a LIVE night of HF activity using a Flex 6500 SDR radio. The SDR will provide visual examples of different digital, CW, and voice transmission modes on different bands. Examples of real-time effects of filters, and noise mitigation will also be covered. Members will be able to try HF contacts around the world, conditions permitting. Don’t miss this exciting evening.
On August 14, 2017, one of our members, AD0WU, petitioned the Commission to add an entry level license to Amateur Radio. Further, the Petition adds some structure to virtually vacant spectrum in our 70cm band for a nationwide FM repeater system built and run by Amateur Radio in partnership with FEMA’s CERT program. See the Tyro Petition at: www.2HTI.com
The permanent VHF antenna has been installed again at the Justice Center. Please get the word out to test the repeater.

On the Thursday Nite Net tonite, Doug (KE0SI) reminded us about the Special Event Station that LARC is sponsoring this Saturday August 5th starting at 10:00 AM at Thompson Park, here in Longmont. The event is commemorating the Boulder County Fair and is expected to run from 10 until 5 or 6. All are welcome to join in on the fun of making some HF contacts.
Please contact Doug (KE0SI) for more details…..303-883-2782 or click on his name on the ‘ABOUT LARC’ page to send him an e-mail….
The LARC VHF and UHF repeaters are now operational at their new Justice Center location. The move took three days to dissassemble, erect new antennas, and re-assemble the repeaters at the new location. At this time the same components are in use, but a number of items including the controllers will be upgraded over the next few months. In addition, we hope that some final tuning should further improve performance. Please give the repeaters a workout and report any problems.
