Long term service appreciated….

It was my pleasure recently to present Don Lewis (KE0EE) and Pat Engstrom (W1PGE) with a plaque and Lifetime Membership to the Longmont Amateur Radio Club.

Don was the clubs treasure for a lot of years and has been an outstanding member of this club. Don mentors and is always steps in to help where he can.

Pat was the clubs secretary for a long time. His dedication to helping keep the board on track with meetings and getting things accomplished has helped keep this club functional.

Please, when you get a chance congratulate these two fellow hams on their accomplishments and their work for the Longmont Amateur Radio Club!

Due to this years solar events, “ELFS” (ELF Scientists) are trying to predict the best times to transmit, so the boys and girls can talk to Santa. Times are confirmed. See Below..

VOTA – Veterans on the Air – Net starting in October

I am currently working on building up a program for veterans with the mission of connecting veterans through radio related hobbies. We are currently planning on running a monthly net starting October 22, 2024 at 1800 hours on the Longmont Amateur Radio Club Repeaters. Each month we will be hosting a different topic that is heavily applicable to veterans. For the October net we will be discussing the topic of ‘cool places the military sent you.’ Although we will not be checking or actively excluding participation in the net from non-veterans, the net is particularly tailored for veterans to be able to connect. Ideally, we will be able to reach more veterans through echolink and broadcastify, and it is the goal that each net we are able to help a veteran that is struggling, even if we never know about it.

Nets will be held on the 22nd of each month at 1800 hours.

LARC Fox Hunt – Trying something different….

September 28th, 2024 – Noon to 2PM somewhere in Longmont

What do you mean somewhere in Longmont Chuck (K0ITP)? Well this fox is a sneaky one and wants you use different technologies to locate it.

The Fox will transmit an APRS signal every 15 minutes with the callsign W0ENO-9 to give you an idea on where to find it on APRS.FI

The reason for the 15 minutes is the fox is going to move within a certain area. It will only stay in its spot for about 7-10 minutes.

It will be broadcasting the regular signal to be listed on the APRS.FI website when you locate W0ENO-9.

Hope to see you out there locating the fox.

Please contact me for addition information.

Once you have found it take a picture and send to [email protected]
