DX Operating Tips

SituationBest Practice
DX station working splitListen for “UP 5” or “UP 5-10” β€” transmit 5–10 kHz above the DX frequency, NOT on the DX frequency
Pileup callingSend only your callsign once β€” clearly and at a moderate speed. Wait for the DX to respond before sending again
DX has you partiallyIf they respond with “W0??” send only the missing part: “W0ENO W0ENO” β€” not your full call twice
Confirming the QSOLog to LoTW as soon as possible. Many DXpeditions upload within 24 hours. Check ClubLog to verify your contact was logged
Weak signal DX (FT8)Use WSJT-X DXpedition mode for pile-up situations. Monitor PSKReporter to see how far your signal is getting
QSL card for a rare entityDirect QSL with SAE + 2 USD (or IRC) via the DX operator’s manager listed on QRZ. Allow 6–12 months
