Boyd Lake State Park
Dates: July 17 – 19
Location: Cottonwood Campground, Loop A (Sites 251 & 254)
Host City: Loveland, CO
There is a $10.00 per day cost to enter park unless you have the State Park add on for your registration.
Please email Chuck Poch – K0ITP to RSVP for meals, questions or any special request. Host K0ITP and Hostess Kerri will be available to chat and participate. If your (X)YL is not a ham and wants to make a new friend, they can hang out with Kerri. She will be biking and doing other possible activates on site over the weekend. We do have a Khan (dog) that is cute, but very protective, so please do not try to pet, he does tend to snip at strangers. Just ignore him.
1. Site Layout & Spatial Arrangement
- Site Separation: Sites 251 and 254 are not directly adjacent. They are typically separated by two intervening sites (252 and 253). They are within a short, 30-second walking distance of each other.
- Driveway Specifications: Each site features a paved, back-in driveway approximately 40 feet in length.
- Utility Hookups: Both sites feature full utility hookups (Electric, Water, and Sewer).
2. Capacity & Tent Constraints (Strictly Enforced)
- Per-Site Occupancy: Maximum of 6 people per site (Total group cap of 12 people across both sites).
- Sleeping Units: Maximum of 2 sleeping units per site. This allows for either:
- One (1) hard-sided RV/camper and one (1) tent.
- Two (2) tents.
- Tent Placement: All tents must be placed strictly on the designated tent pads or on the paved asphalt driveway. Tents are completely prohibited on the grass or dirt to protect park vegetation.
- July Weather Note: Loop A consists of younger cottonwood trees providing minimal shade. It is highly recommended to bring pop-up sun canopies. Canopies must also be weighted or staked on the pavement/pad, not the grass.
- BYOC – Bring your own chair.
3. Vehicle & Parking Policies
- On-Site Parking: A maximum of 2 vehicles are permitted to park directly at each campsite.
- Pavement Restriction: All wheels of all vehicles and trailers must remain entirely on the paved asphalt. Parking on the grass or road shoulder is strictly illegal.
- Overflow Parking: Any additional vehicles beyond the 2-per-site limit must be parked in the designated campground overflow lots.
4. Operational Timeline & Hours
- Check-In Time: 1:00 PM on Friday, July 17.
- Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM (Noon) on Sunday, July 19.
- Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Group gatherings must disperse or become quiet during these hours to avoid park ranger citations.
5. Critical July Park Alerts & Restrictions
- Fire Bans & Restrictions: Open wood, charcoal, and pellet campfires are restricted to the permanent, park-provided metal fire rings. Due to high fire danger in July, wood fires may be completely banned. Propane-fueled camp stoves and grills are permitted for cooking.
- Water Craft Restrictions: Boyd Lake is currently closed to motorized boating due to low water levels. Hand-launched, non-motorized watercraft (kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards) are permitted.
- Pet Policy: Pets must be kept on a physical leash (maximum 6 feet in length) at all times. Pets cannot be left unattended or tied to trees, shrubs, or electrical boxes.
